  • Yes, as it kills mosquitoes naturally and as long as the unit is installed securely and correctly as per the manual. The trap is powered from a safe 12 volt waterproof transformer and draws less than .05 of an amp. The modulator that creates the pulsing of the gas is honey-bases and not poisonous. There is no ignition or explosion point as the trap uses CO2 gas – the same gas used to carbonate soft drinks.

  • It depends on the size of the bottle – the trap uses less than 3 kg (6.5 lbs) of CO2 per month if using the factory default setting on the provided hose. A commercial regulator is not required because your Mosquito Slayer uses a self-regulating, patented pulsing mechanism. A 9 kg (20 lb) bottle is recommended for approximately 4 months of usage.

  • A 250 mililiters (8 oz) lure, if used as per manufacturer’s instructions, will last about a month. Too much Lactic Lure in the tray will actually lower your catch rate, as female mosquitoes can sense the amount of lactic acid that a warm blooded creature emits.

Generally, a CO2 gas system will cost roughly $50/month, while a non-gas unit will run approximately $24/month. These estimates include CO2 gas, bottle rental and consumables. On the CO2 model, the gas can be disconnected in the off/low season. The trap will still be effective, while reducing operating costs.

This reduces the larvae pool for all mosquitoes – male and female – in an area up to 300 meters around the trap helping to protect your living or working area. Depending on the type of mosquito – a female can lay anywhere from 600 to 6000 larvae in a season, so for every female caught there is a reduction in the amount of laid eggs, thus reducing breeding quickly and effectively.

  • The male is a nectar feeder and his life span is about 6 weeks. His sole purpose is to mate. Males mate during flight with multiple female partners. In a larvae pool with less than 10% females, mating is significantly reduced and the male becomes a part of the food chain for other insects and spiders.
